TRIBUTE
A generation of artists. An iconic pop legacy. A live show and album celebrating freedom, identity and the right to be yourself.
THE SONGS WE KNEW.
THE FREEDOM WE FELT.
Twenty years after t.A.T.u.’s debut, a new generation stepped into the music. More than 30 artists came together across a tribute show and album — bringing different voices, genres and perspectives to songs that had travelled around the world.
Alex Wolf led the show as creative director and producer. Working with the Lookport team, he brought the project’s creative concept, screen content, stage construction and live direction into one production, connecting the energy inside the room with an audience watching online.

POP MEMORY.
PHYSICAL SCALE.
The challenge was to turn familiar images into places where a performance could happen. The music videos became a starting point for an ambitious physical set: a fuel tanker, a working carousel and a suspended cage, each giving the artists a different way to inhabit the songs.
These were substantial scenic builds, integrated with camera positions, lighting, choreography and live cues. The production had to feel immediate to the crowd and hold its scale on screen.

AN ICON.
REBUILT AS A STAGE.
The forestage
Not Gonna Get Us.
The fuel tanker brought one of t.A.T.u.’s most recognisable visual references into the room. Positioned as a key part of the forestage, it became a performance platform that pushed the action out towards the audience. Lighting and pyrotechnics turned its industrial silhouette into a focal point of the show.

30 Minutes / The carousel
A DIFFERENT
KIND OF SPIN.
A carousel was built especially for the show, echoing the imagery of “30 Minutes”. Soft pink light, movement and a close camera perspective created a more intimate world inside the large-scale production.
Its dreamlike atmosphere gave the show a different rhythm — a shift from the raw energy of the tanker to a moment of theatrical escape.

TAKING THE SHOW
INTO THE AIR.
The vertical stage
Another dimension.
A large cage carried performers above the floor, taking the action towards the venue’s approximately 40-metre-high ceiling. The structure added a vertical axis to the show, with aerial movement, screen content and light designed as parts of the same scene.
Bringing these elements together demanded close coordination between creative direction, staging and technical production. Each transition had to work as a live moment, a camera sequence and a practical cue for the teams delivering it.
02 / Across borders. Across genres.
MANY VOICES.
ONE SHARED
LEGACY.
Pop, alternative music and electronic production met across the show and the album. Each artist was invited to reinterpret the material in their own language, rather than reproduce the original performance.

FAMILIAR MELODIES.
NEW EMOTIONAL WEIGHT.
Beyond nostalgia
ROOM TO
BE YOURSELF.
A symphony orchestra brought another scale of emotion to the music. Alongside new arrangements and individual interpretations, it helped connect the intimacy of the songs with the size of the occasion.
For Alex, the tribute was also a statement about freedom, identity and LGBTQ+ rights. Within an Eastern European cultural context, the intention was to make a bold, shared space for self-expression — carrying the legacy of t.A.T.u. into a conversation with a new generation.

IN THE
WRONG LANE.
The project continued beyond the live show with a full tribute album released through Lookport on streaming platforms. New interpretations gave the songs a life beyond a single night, connecting established fans with listeners discovering the music for the first time.
Imany, POLINA, Manizha and Molchat Doma were among the artists featured by Spotify ahead of the release. Their contributions show how widely these songs travelled — and how differently they could be heard.

04 / Behind the production
ONE VISION.
THOUSANDS
OF MOVING PARTS.
With a multi-artist running order, bespoke scenery, an orchestra and a broadcast audience, the project required creative decisions to hold up under real production conditions.
Alex’s responsibility connected the overall idea with its execution: shaping the show’s visual narrative, guiding content production, overseeing the stage build and directing the performance as a whole. It was an exercise in keeping a clear creative purpose across an unusually complex live production.
